Privacy and your data

Where your meeting content goes depends on the models and integrations you choose.

Notes on your computer

Typr OSS stores notes and transcripts in a local database. Audio recording files are off by default. Existing preferences that explicitly retain recordings are respected. Manage exports, backups and access to your device carefully.

Local AI and cloud providers

Supported local models on Mac process meeting content on your device after their initial download. When you select a cloud transcription or chat provider, the audio or text needed for that task is sent to that provider using your API key. Its retention, training and privacy policies apply; Typr does not promise zero retention on its behalf.

Connected AI tools

An MCP connection allows the connected AI tool to retrieve meeting context. That tool may send the retrieved content to its model provider. Only configure clients you trust and review their data policies.

Diagnostics and external services

Typr has an analytics consent setting in Settings. Review it to manage product analytics. Updates, model downloads and connected providers make network requests to their respective services. The website is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests to serve it. Installer downloads are served by GitHub.

Questions or removal requests

For private questions about this website or Typr, email support@typrapp.com. Deleting local notes and backups is under your control. Content sent to a provider is subject to that provider’s deletion process.
